Sales by Item, Employee and Category
See which products sold, what each employee rang up, and how each category performed.
By the end of this article, you can read the three breakdown reports alongside the Sales Summary.
Switch reports
Open Settings, click the Reports card, then choose a tab: By Item, By Employee or By Category. Each uses the same date-range controls as the Sales Summary.
By Item
Lists every distinct item sold in the range with its quantity and revenue, sorted by revenue. A custom-priced line entered at the register (see Entering a custom price for an item not in inventory) shows up here under whatever name was typed for it, since it has no product record of its own to group under.
By Employee
Lists each employee who rang up a sale in the range, with their transaction count, gross sales and net total, sorted by net total.
By Category
Lists quantity and revenue by category, sorted by revenue. A product with no category assigned appears as Uncategorized. A custom-priced line, which also has no category, appears separately as Custom items rather than being folded into Uncategorized.
What is excluded
All three reports, like the Sales Summary, only count completed sales. A voided transaction does not appear in any of them.
