Creating a percent or fixed-amount discount

By the end of this article, a discount rule exists and applies itself on qualifying sales.

How rules apply

Every active discount rule that matches a sale applies automatically at checkout. A cashier does not select or apply a discount manually, and more than one matching rule can stack on the same sale.

Create a rule

1. Open Settings and click the Discounts card.
2. Under Add discount rule, enter a Name, such as “Summer Sale”.
3. Choose the type: % off for a percentage, or $ off for a flat dollar amount.
4. Enter the amount: a percentage like 10 for percent off, or a dollar figure like 2.00 for a fixed amount off.
5. Choose where it applies. See Scoping a discount to the cart, a category or a product.
6. Click Add.

Turning a rule off without deleting it

Click Deactivate on a rule’s row to stop it from applying while keeping its settings, or Activate to turn it back on. Click Delete to remove it permanently.
