Activating your license key

By the end of this article, Novella POS is activated and ready for its first employee to sign in.

Enter the key

The first time Novella POS opens on a machine, it shows the Activate Novella POS screen instead of the register. This is expected: every install has to be activated once before it will run.

1. Paste the license key you were given when you purchased or downloaded the software into the License key box.
2. Click Activate.

If the key is valid, the app moves straight on to the employee sign-in screen. If it is not, an error appears above the button and nothing else changes, so it is safe to fix a typo and try again.

Activation works offline

Verification happens on the machine itself. There is no activation server this step has to reach, so it works the same with or without an internet connection.

If a trial expired

A trial key stops working on its expiration date. Opening the app after that shows the same activation screen, but with a message naming the customer the trial was issued to and the date it expired. Paste a new key in the same box to keep using the software.

Setting up more than one register

Activation just checks the key itself: the app does not look at anything about the machine it is running on. If you are opening a second register, use the license key that was issued for it.
