Admin and cashier roles explained

What the difference between an admin and a cashier account actually controls.

By the end of this article, you know which screens and actions are limited to admins.

Cashiers get the register

A cashier login can ring up sales, look up customers, hold and recall tickets, and work a cash-drawer session, including pay-ins, pay-outs and close-out. That covers day-to-day work at the counter.

Admins reach everything else

Only an admin sees the full Settings hub: Manage Products, Categories, Discounts, Manage Employees, Store Settings, Receipt and Reports. Admins can also do things a cashier cannot from inside screens both roles reach, such as adjusting a customer’s store credit or voiding a completed transaction.

Changing a role

An admin can change any other employee’s role between cashier and admin from Manage Employees, except their own; the role selector is disabled on your own account so you cannot accidentally lock yourself out of admin access.
